Janelle Monae poured her heart out on stage this past weekend while performing at the eighth Afro-Punk Festival in Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. She performed songs like "Sincerely Jane", gave an ode to Michael Jackson, and was even introduced by Pharrell Williams! Check out more pics and video coverage from her performance below the jump. I was there too! It was my first time seeing Janelle live after missing her shows for 3 yrs straight and this was finally my shot..and it literally changed my life...I cried like a baby after the show..it was more than just experiencing her live...its like something within me activated creatively. I just truly connect with her message, her art, her performing style.. everything. I've watched plenty of live performances from shows (which displays her powerful this woman clearly)..but experiencing it in person? I cant even put it into words.. I love this woman, her team, her band.. everyone involved..this is what the people of the world need(especially young people). A fearless group of people to change the world and inspire a new race of people to be authentic, without fear. -DeJae ps. How cool it must be to be apart of the Wondaland Art Society crew?! ;-)

I was there. It was my first concert ever. She was awesome, I hope she'll be at afropunk next year!
