Metropolis: The Chase Reviewed on Hip Hop DX

September 29th, 2008

Janelle Monae's debut album Metropolis: The Chase was reviewed on Hip Hop DX.  "Even without the random interplanetary references and notions of forbidden robot love, Metropolis has the type of production that takes its cues from something made in the past, as well as the future. The drums hit hard, and when combined with the synth keys, strings and the occasional electric guitar, they make for an oddly enjoyable mix." Read the full review here

As I stated on myspace, it is extremely important to place artist such as Janelle Monae in the main stream elite. For she is proof that art can still be boundless, and our imaginations, and creative are just important as what moves our butts. I Thank You Janelle for you have restored my will to fight for creative freedom in mainstream music again. In Texas you will always have support. WE NEED YOU!

i always wondered who the mezmerizing presence was in the Outkast “Morris Brown” video on the roller coaster. I just saw the 106 and park premier of Ms. Monae’s ’short film’ and was absolutey blown away. She is truly artistic and beautifully orginal. Much like Michelle Ndege Ocello, I have just witnessed a prolific, female modern artist who soars above any genre of music, fashion, or expression. She is spirit, and I’m excited hearing and seeing more of her talent
