in the context of this album i feel like she may mean these lyrics to be less inspirational than people normally think of them. in this context it puts me in the mind of the poem "We Wear the Mask." Like she's saying, just smiling won't change things even though you pretend they will. Change won't come as long as you are only smiling on all this madness. You will remain under droid control. Sometimes you gotta get pissed and cry then there is revolution.
