Oh, Maker

Oh, Maker
Lyrics:

I hear the drizzle of the rain
It's falling from my window
And in the corners of my mind
I hope that I'll get to see you again
La da die da die da die da die my friend

I hear the colors in the flowers
Just like the candle snugged at dawn
You're here, you're near, you're there and then you're gone
La da die da die da die da die

Suffering in sinking sand
All the hurt
See I'm really lost baby
We suffered a rare, rare blue
So much hurt
On this earth
But you loved me
And I really dared to love you too
Perhaps what I mean to say is
Is that it's amazing that your love was mine

Oh, Maker tell me did you know
This love would burn so yellow
Becoming orange and in it's time
Explode from grey to black then bloody wine
La da die da die da die da die

Oh, Maker have you ever loved?
Or known just what it was?
I can't imagine the bitter end
Of all the beauty that we're living in?

Suffering in sinking sand
All the hurt
See I'm really lost baby
We suffered a rare, rare blue
So much hurt
On this earth
But you loved me
And I really dared to love you too
Perhaps what I mean to say is
Is that it's amazing that your love was mine

I cant even begin to describe how I feel about this song, never and I mean never has a song about love touched me so much. I cried but smiled while hearing this for the first time, the lyrics took me and held me hostage.
On days were nothing special seems to be coming my way this song always manages to find its way to me and the feelings I go through thereafter are beyond even my own descriptions.

As an artist myself Jan I have to say and this is a bold statement here.. BUt you changed my perception on expression and the power of words. And for that I love and thank YOU!!!

Much love

I read a comment someone left that said, "i danced with my mother to this song." i had heard it once before and liked it but after that comment i listened to it again.
My mother died about a month ago, and i spent the last three months caring for her and learning great lessons under her. One of my favorite feelings is knowing that I got to experience true love, unconditional and expansive, farther and deeper than any trouble we had caused one another in my teenage years. I realized how much our spirits have always been connected, how whatever i do affects her, and she became my guide to Truth in Love.
Now every time I listen to this song, i remember her with every line. I know I am connected to the world around me, that she too is connected, and that whatever i do DOES have an impact on everyone else.
She's still with me everyday. At times I can smell her, and she holds me when I cry. For this world and for this earth, i/we have purpose greater than any war lords who are trying to take power by using falsehood. Truth reigns. Light comes from darkness.
Thanks, Janelle.

Ms. Monae: you are simply amazing!

I bought this album off amazon.com (because my local record store didn't have it, boo) and I would really love to get the lyrics. particularly of this song, which i've had on repeat for the past few days. So lovely.
