Yea I finally got around to watching Metropolis last week. It's a great story in anyway possible.

I think she wants to tell a story. I personally see her songs as a soundtrack to a movie in which she plays the lead and all supporting roles. It's obvious her influences come from Fritz Lang's 1927 silent film Metropolis (thanks Wikipedia) but she is putting her own twist to it.

I can absolutely see where her faith comes into play with a lot of the lyrics. A lot of it also has to deal with I guess kind of seeing what is right/being open minded and the struggles/adventures of those being oppressed in the situation. At least that's the way I see them.

I believe Janelle wrote all the lyrics...

I would guess (imo) that her main inspiration is God. And speaking of how we can correct and better the world from it's sorrows and wrong doings... And ultimately helping create a world.. A FUTURE in which we can live in God's ultimate vision of a world of LOVE
